I started saving seeds in 1983 when I joined the Seed Savers Exchange. Over the years I have collected seeds from many different sources. Some were collected on trips I made overseas as an agricultural volunteer. Others came from SSE members and from some other gardeners who saved seeds including a relative and some people who saved seeds in Southern Minnesota. A few are rare seeds from seed companies including seeds that are no longer offered by the companies that previously offered them. I am retired, having spent most of my years working in various areas of agriculture including crop consulting. For 5 years I worked as the director of the Rodale Institute's Midwest Farmers Network devoted to promoting sustainable agriculture. Also, for many years I have been an active member of the Minnesota Sustainable Farming Association that seeks to advance sustainable farming in Minnesota.
