Pawpaw Seed (Asimina triloba)

Pawpaws will bear fruit after 6 years from seed planting, with good care. Seeds should not be allowed to dry out or freeze or germination may drop to below twenty percent. Seeds are from the Davis Collection seedlings, which are hardy varieties originating in southern Michigan and northern Illinois. Trees need some shading in hot climates as they are a native under story tree, but will grow better in full sun in cloudy or cooler climates. Fruit needs to be picked at just the right stage of ripeness, when the flesh gives slightly with finger pressure or fruit will tend to be less sweet or even bitter when black and over ripe. Tree's have taken -27 F. with no winter injury. Seed is fresh and stratified ready to plant from 2022. Will send planting info. with seed.
