Hardy Harvest Moon Peach Seed (SOLD OUT for 2023)

A chance rootstock seedling. A Reliance peach tree froze to the ground one very cold winter. The next spring this peach tree grew up from the roots. The Harvest Moon peach is hardy to at least -25°F. Peach seed usually produces trees which are true to type, although there is a possibility that it may have cross pollinated with other peaches growing nearby. Medium to large peaches are lemon colored with a red blush. The yellow orange flesh is sweet and juicy with a fruity flavor and is freestone. I named this peach Harvest Moon as it ripens later than Reliance in early to mid September near the time of the full moon. (15 seeds)

Seed propagation: Soak whole shell or pits in water 48 hours to rehydrate seed. Optional: Carefully file, saw, or crack hard outer peach seed shell to allow water penetration. Or crack and remove peach pit being careful not to damage brown skin on pit. Refrigerate damp seed 34° - 45°F. 60-120 days. Do not store with apples or vegetables unless in airtight container, (ethylene gas.) Plant 1-2 ½ deep in well drained soil keep at 65°-75°F. until germination.
