(Baby Kale=30 days; Mature Kale=50-55 days) Extremely common kale variety that has a multitude of desirable traits that make this kale so popular. The compact, curly leaves are blue-green in color and store well. Highly prolific and is one of the most hardy kale varieties around. The 1 to 1 ½ foot tall plants hold up well to yellowing and premature-bolting. This cultivar was bred out of the pre-1865 variety, Dwarf Green Curled and was first commercially available in 1950. You can add the leaves to smoothies, make kale chips, or use the tender leaves in handcrafted salads.
